What makes a man, a man? What makes a man a king, or
a king a god? According to Roy-LT, it all has to do
with savoir-faire, the ability to say or do the right
thing at the right time. This is what Roy-LT claims
separates him from the rest. Following in a long tradition
of Bronx-styled battle rappers comes the rapper, Roy-LT,
a self-styled demigod of sorts. He epitomizes the essence
of the original, ghetto, flavor, so native to the Bronx
hiphop world.
Roy-LT who grew up in the Bronx, listening to original
old school classics, such as Whodini, Kurtis Blow, Run-DMC,
Cool Moe D, Rakim, and KRS-1, feels that he "has
something to add to the legacy of hiphop." The
environment he grew up in, instilled in him a love for
hiphop music and its culture. He closely identifies
himself with the "old school flavor." Rappers
came with that hiphop rebel mentality and threw the
truth in your face whether you liked it or not."
Roy-LT prides himself on his lyrical abilities, which
he delivers with force, yet universal appeal. He feels
that the lyrics are an important aspect in his music.
"People want to hear phat beats...beats that could
move them, but they also want phat lyrics that could
move the mind too." As a result Roy-LT provides
a sophisticated blend of lyrics, mixing slang with rhetoric.
His clever use of quips, puns, and banter, to convey
his message, is a breath of fresh air to the rap industry.
